Successful use of the Initial Financial Support

In order to provide support after setting up a business or to promote the start of employment subject to social insurance contributions, persons receiving unemployment benefit II can, under certain conditions, receive entry benefit. The entry benefit is a discretionary benefit. Job seekers who receive unemployment benefit I cannot apply for the founding subsidy (however, for unemployment benefit II, they can apply to the Job Center) at the Employment Agency.
In addition to the entry money, persons who receive unemployment benefit II can also receive other benefits to start or carry out self-employment for the procurement of material goods. A more general overview of benefits for the integration of self-employed persons is regulated in § 16c SGB II. This includes a subsidy of up to 5,000 euros. This subsidy is for the procurement of material goods which are necessary and appropriate for the exercise of the self-employed activity. In this context, it applies that the self-employed activity achieves economic viability within a period of time which must be regarded as reasonable. This means that the self-employed person can earn his or her own living and all other benefits after a reasonable period of time after deducting the costs of the self-employment. Here, a statement from a competent body is important for the viability, which can also be issued by our Institute for Career and Entrepreneurship of Wistor GmbH in the case of viable projects.
The duration of the support can be up to 24 months. The amount of the subsidy can be calculated in two ways: the individual case related calculation and the lump sum calculation. With the lump-sum assessment, the maximum subsidy limit is 75 percent of the standard requirement in accordance with § 20 Section 2 Clause 1 of the German Social Code II (SGB II).
